The portal of 11/11 is here, and it is a potent time of manifestation. Yet all moments are potent times to manifest, because we are all master manifesters. When we see 11:11 on a clock or on our screens, it is a reminder of this. People call 11/11 a portal or an angel number, in numerology 11 is a master number. Why is that?
In numerology, 11 means sacred union. 1 +1 = 2, the number of partnership. 11 thus means moving beyond separation, beyond judgement, transcending duality by coming together, partnering, collaborating, finding balance and harmony with each other. Coming together means ‘re-membering’, remembering who we truly are. 11 is also the number of intuition, because sacred union involves tuning in, aligning with one another so that we are in sync, resonating at a similar frequency to become one.
11/11 is the hall of mirrors that is the Universe. Consider the number I to be the singularity, Source, the God of your understanding. Source creates the material world by fractalising into trillions of 1’s, so that it can understand itself better by seeing itself from different points of view. When we realise that we are all just different versions of Oneness, we create a unifying vision. We create unity out of diversity to become the ‘Universe’. So we can say that 11 is really the number of the cosmos, or as the Taoists say, the ‘Mother of Ten Thousand Things’ - ten thousand 1’s in a very long line.
11 is the number of intuition because to understand ourselves from all these different perspectives we need to be able to see ourselves in the mirror of the ‘other’, to ‘tune in’, to step into another’s shoes and understand their lived experience, so that we can realise why they are acting that way, and notice whether we are responding or reacting to them (and if we are reacting, why?).
Tuning in is a very intimate process. It involves feeling into another, a reflection of ourselves who perhaps feels nothing like us in that moment, but who we know is really us looking at ourselves from a different angle. If we feel triggered, there is an opportunity for learning. What is it we don’t like about this version of us? The dislike is coming from inside of us, so if we feel aghast at this persons righteousness or judgmental attitude, it is because they are reflecting the righteousness and judgement in us. They may be a hugely distorted reflection; like one of those ghoulish mirrors in a haunted house that make us look twice as big as we really are, so our righteousness is magnified into some hideously gargantuan form. And of course this reflection brings out all the judgement in us - we don’t like it at all. But this is the enlightenment process; understanding that the world is our own reflection, and whatever we dislike in the world is showing us what we have yet to resolve in ourselves.
Let’s take an example. The fact that Trump has become such a well-known figure brought everyone’s judgementalness up to the surface for all to see. He is a deeply polarising figure. Yet if we take a more enlightened view, perhaps he is a blessing in disguise if we realise it is an opportunity for us to let go of our own inner judgement. When we hear Trump on the news and there is no emotional charge within us, then we know we have overcome whatever it is in us that we judged ourselves for. If there is an emotional charge but we notice it, we’ve still won, because we are aware of it, which means we can weaken it over time every moment we notice. In the words of Eckhart Tolle;
“The moment you become aware of the ego in you, it is strictly speaking no longer the ego, but just an old, conditioned mind-pattern. Ego implies unawareness. Awareness and ego cannot coexist.”
Some mind patterns are harder than others to dissolve - some are so ingrained they stick around for a while like an echo in a cave. But with awareness, that echo soon gets quieter and quieter until it melts away into nothing. There is a caveat though - it falls away as long as you don’t fuel it with a new echo, a self-flagellating thought as you catch yourself casting judgement. This is re-energising that old mind pattern; judging yourself for being judgy. Or when you catch yourself being righteousness, justifying it in your mind - making yourself right again.
Catch it in that moment - be aware of judging or justifying yourself, and laugh. Then look what happens - it melts away. As we become present, as we let go of resistance, the ego doesn’t stand a chance. When we let go of thoughts like ‘I am right!’ Or ‘I am this’ and ‘I am that’ we are simply left with ‘I am.’ This is our ‘satchitananda’ presence, meaning ‘truth (sat), consciousness (chit), bliss (ananada)’; our spiritual essence beyond ego.
So the 11 symbolises this ongoing enlightenment process, whereby we see our reflection in everthing and let ego drop away as we intuitively understand ourselves from all these different perspectives. 11/11 is thus all about integrating diversity into unity. 11 is the number of Unity Consciousness.
When we are resonant, we create harmony - a beautiful song. A song can only be beautiful if we are singing as one, so there are no off-chords hurting our ears. Harmony can be found if we transcend polarity to find love and compassion for each other, so that we are all singing from the same song sheet. Sacred union is thus the resonance of the Sanskrit word ‘maitri’ (meaning friendliness, loving kindness). If 11/11 is a tune, it’s the Beatles song “All we need us Love!”
The number 11 symbolises so much, which is why so many of us see it so often. It has less to do with natural cycles, planetary alignments or astrology, but rather an internal code representing enlightenment, unity and love. That is why it is called an angel number or a master number.
11/11 represents universal consciousness - the Big Bang going from singularity to diversity, expanding out and out and out in that crazy hall of mirrors, until it re-members and starts coming back together again in sacred union, remembering who it is, falling in love with itself in all its different forms, and converging back into the singularity. Then there is another big bang and the whole process starts all over again - the universal heartbeat. 11 symbolises all of this, which is why it is such a powerful master number.
From an individual perspective 11 is the enlightened soul who can understand all points of view and accept them without judgement, with unconditional love. 11 is the master intuitive, perceiving all that is seen and unseen, because they knows that while they are 11, they are really one.
