Why is the sea so good for us?

There are so many reasons why a trip to the seaside that makes us feel so darn good. Simply gazing at the ocean can change our brain wave state, lulling us into a peaceful meditative state. We often associate the colour blue with feelings of calm and serenity, and listening to the ebb and flow of waves naturally soothes and relaxes the mind.
The calming effect of the air and flow of waves on the mind can be attributed to several factors:
1. Rhythmic Nature: The repetitive sounds and movements of waves create a soothing rhythm, which can induce a sense of relaxation and tranquility.

Reducing stress has a major effect on our immune system, so being by the sea can cure us of all sorts of ailments, which is why Victorian doctors often prescribed a 'sea-cure' for their patients. Other therapeutic benefits include purifying our blood, balancing our autonomic nervous system, promoting deep sleep and healthy digestion.
